The Postojna caves are now a major tourist attraction in the heart of Slovenia. Postojna Jama has 14,600 m of fossil rich passages. It is reached by traveling on an open train from the surface. One cave is sometimes used as an auditorium , listening to orchestral music deep down in the Earth's crust must be experienced. One large cave was used as a fuel and arms dump in World War 2. It is still blackened , a result of the Slovenian Partisans tunneling through from the other side of the mountain and exploding the munitions.
